The Case for Clean: Why You Should Use Non-Toxic Products

It's a dirty world out there.

If you’re like me, you assumed the FDA has basic oversight when it comes to the chemicals used in personal care products. That’s why I was shocked to discover that the law that lets the FDA regulate personal care products has not been updated since 1938.

Only 11 chemicals are banned in the U.S., meaning the 80,000+ synthetic chemicals invented since 1938 have found their way into everything from shampoo and mascara to sunscreen and household cleaners.

On top of that, the FDA does not define or regulate terms like “natural” or “organic". This has allowed the personal care industry to become a free-for-all with “greenwashing” products by marketing them with those terms, without having to back these claims.

Why You Should Use Non-Toxic Products

Our skin is our largest organ and when harmful chemicals, such as phthalates and formaldehyde, are inhaled or absorbed, they can cause adverse health effects such as cancer, thyroid disease, hormone disruption and weakened immunity to name a few.

If this fires you up as it did me, the best place to start is to get informed. My goal is to empower you with the education and information to make informed product choices by providing you with why you should use non-toxic products that won’t sacrifice your health.
